LUKAS-ERZETT offers flexible grinding and polishing materials with silicon carbide (SiC) as the cutting material especially for the aerospace industry. They are suitable for typical materials in this industry, in particular aluminium, titanium, nickel-based alloys and composite materials. They can also be used to process glass, ceramics, high-temperature steels and plastics. A major advantage is the low heat build-up, which reduces heat-related distortion and makes machining more controllable. Depending on the application, these abrasives are available as abrasive flap discs, abrasive flaps or abrasive sheets. The abrasive cloth flap SFC silicon carbide is suitable for deburring, plastering and effect and surface sanding, among other things. The non-woven abrasive flap SFV silicon carbide is used for matting, satin finishing, cleaning, polishing and final sanding.

Aluminium is processed on a large scale in aircraft construction and places special demands on machining. Conventional grinding tools tend to clog up quickly and impair the work process.
