Tool solutions for fettling, cutting and finishing

In tool and mould making, quality begins before series production - with suitable tool solutions for precise machining.

For perfect moulds

When dimensional accuracy, surface quality and tool life are crucial

In tool and mould making, the machining quality directly determines the quality of the subsequent component. Drawing and spinning tools, injection moulds and die-casting moulds must be precisely manufactured, cleanly finished and ground or polished down to the last detail. The spectrum ranges from large mould surfaces to fine contours, tight radii and areas that are difficult to access. What is needed are tools that work precisely, can be guided safely and remain economical even with hard materials. LUKAS-ERZETT offers tool solutions that are tailored to the material, geometry and machining objective in tool and mould making.

For hard materials

Precise machining of tool steels and fine structures

Tool steels require grinding tools that cut in a controlled manner even at high hardness and provide a clean machining pattern. LUKAS-ERZETT offers grinding points for tool steels, such as the NDW series with corundum cutting materials for very good tool life. Thanks to its microcrystalline structure, the Ceramic type is self-sharpening so that new cutting edges are continuously exposed during grinding. This is particularly advantageous where small contours, fine structures and precise transitions need to be machined. When hardened steels, HSS or comparable materials require maximum precision, CBN tools also show their strengths. They combine controlled stock removal, high process reliability and consistent dimensional accuracy. For non-ferrous materials such as carbide, ceramics, glass or composite materials, diamond tools are available that enable fine grinding patterns and low wear.

For moulds and surfaces

Flexible tools for large surfaces, curvatures and clean contours

In tool and mould making, the tool often has to adapt to the mould, not the other way around. Flexible solutions are required for large moulds, curvatures and sensitive surfaces in particular, which can be guided cleanly and enable consistent results. Flexible polishing rods, which are available in different versions and can be customised to the workpiece and processing task, are suitable for these tasks. SFL shaft polishing wheels have been specially developed to meet the requirements of this industry. Thanks to their flexible abrasive cloth, they follow the geometry of the workpiece snugly and

support a uniform sanding pattern. In addition, carbide burrs offer the option of customising the material, desired surface quality, toothing, head shape and size specifically to the application. This results in tool solutions that combine precision, surface quality and cost-effectiveness in tool and mould making.
